STUDIES ON PLANTS USED FOR COOLING EFFECT BY THE TRIBES OF ADILABAD DISTRICT, ANDHRA PRADESH

The paper deals with 26 species of plants covering 24 genera and 21 families used by the tribes Adilabad district for cooling. Cucurbitaceae is dominant family 3 followed Sapindaceae, Sapotaceae , Arecaceae (2 spp each) others. Trees are 10 herbs (8 spp) Fruits in a maximum 12 practices leaf (6) Ceratophyllum demersum, 15 were found to be new. KEY WORDS: Ethnomedicine, Cooling, district, Andhra Pradesh
